Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Statement

In support of the Mission Statement and the music, audience, guest performers and orchestra members, the Saint Paul Civic Symphony adopts the following three pillars of equity, diversity and inclusion:

  1. Provide shared opportunities for continued learning and growth about equity, diversity and inclusion, including intercultural competency resources. 
  2. Evaluate and change policies and procedures to promote equity, diversity and inclusion. 
  3. Provide appropriate resources and support to develop authentic relationships with diverse communities.

Definitions

Equity promotes justice, impartiality and fairness to ensure that every individual has what they need to fully participate.

Diversity is representation of our individual and collective identities, recognizing that identity manifestation is contextual.  

Inclusion creates a culture of belonging that embraces participation by everyone.

Intercultural competency is the ability to communicate and interact in ways that are sensitive and meaningful to those who are culturally different.
